Their main concerned is the unlevel playing field that the joint enrolment policy lays out and its impact on the area. I have to agreed with them and I said I'd write to you to support their case. The policy also effects other estates in the parish. I've a bit of experience in this area as the two parish primary schools have a joint enrolment policy which we rolled out a number of years ago. It caused a lot of controversy at the time but seemed to be the fairest way forward. I understand the situation of the two boards in question and their desire to do the same. But I do feel there are a couple of areas that need to be addressed Below are listed some of my concerns and observations. 1. It does not seem fair and just that a joint enrolment policy would effectively segregate its applicants from the very beginning into two categories. Surely, the residents of all estates should be able to apply equally to both schools stating their 1st preference. 2. The fact that the two schools in question are not the same raises concerns for me. CCC is 'Designated' and LCC is 'Non-Designated'. The fact that the schools are operating a joint policy and yet a lot of applicants are not being offered a proper choice by being effectively 'forced' to apply to one or other school does not seem just and fair. Indeed, can schools with a different ethos operate a joint enrolment policy? If you feel it may be of benefit to discuss the matter further please do not hesitate to contact me. Yours sincerely Rev.
