Biodiversity group cleans up pollinator patch

Some of the Riverwood Biodiversity Group descended on the overgrown pollinator patch between Riverwood Chase and Glebe.

The area was originally planted by Fingal Operations about 10 years ago and the plants grew quickly. The area was weeded irregularly over the years. Then, two years ago, FCC Operations came out again and did a lot of work, planting perennial flowers and installing a weed blocking membrane with bark mulch on top of it. This helped reduce weeds but they are determined and, again, some very irregular weeding has been done in the past two years.

The group went to work removing weed and grasses that had established themselves in the area. Then they refreshed the bark mulch to leave a neat, colourful area.
