Irish Rail have opened the first public consultation on the DART+ West project that will electrify and increase capacity on the Maynooth train line. Unfortunately one part of the project involves a significant road bridge in Riverwood Court.
The level crossings at Ashtown, Coolmine, Porterstown and Clonsilla will be closed. Porterstown and Clonsilla will only have pedestrian/cycle bridges, road traffic will have to go elsewhere.
This first public consultation runs until Wednesday 23 September 2020 Wednesday 7 Wednesday 21 October 2020 at 5pm.
Project information
The Irish Rail website has an area with extensive information about the project.
The Downloads page leads to other pages which contain details of the various options considered. For Coolmine 6 options were considered.

The image shows the proposed bridge between Riverwood Court and Station Court.
The road bridge landing in Riverwood Court is the most significant change for Riverwood residents.
The image also shows a proposed pedestrian/cycle bridge over the level crossing at Coolmine station. The level crossing will be closed.
Alternate Options
Of the options considered, each was evaluated, with some rejected early. They called this Multi Criteria Analysis (MCA).
You can read about the MCA reports on the Annexes page. Of most interest will be Annex 9.3A Stage 1 MCA Level Crossing matricesand Annex 9.3B Stage 2 MCA Level Crossing matrices.
