We have Adopted a Patch

September 27, 2012 | Posted in Fingal County Council, General

Fingal County Council rolled out an Adopt a Patch scheme whereby a community adopts and maintains a public area. The community group is expected to clean up the adopted patch a few times a year – not too different from the clean up days we already do.

The committee has adopted the open space area at Riverwood Chase/Copse. This includes the playground, tennis courts, basketball court, hedges and grass area around it all. If this proves successful we hope to adopt the other open space areas within Riverwood.

Fingal County Council has provided us with clean up equipment – three litter pickers, canvas/rubber gloves, hi viz vests (XL size for some reason) and a roll of plastic bags.

The litter pickers are already a big hit with the local children – they love using them and the adopted patch is cleaner already.
