Economy down, crime up — Friday, 16 January 2009

The committee met with our Community Gardaí last night. The Gardaí reported that the Carpenterstown area is very quiet. We reported the egg throwing and graffiti in the area and they will keep an eye out for the culprits.

The Gardaí asked us to warn residents that although the area is quiet, when times get hard, burglaries and similar crimes go up.

  • So, ensure you lock up your possessions securely.
  • Don't leave your car keys near the front door ('fishing' for keys is still popular)
  • Be wary of suspicious people calling to your door - some will be opportunists looking to grab a handbag or other valuables that are close to the door.
